About

Sewing became an interest for me after taking a sewing class when I was 10 years old. I started quilting about 1982, after taking a class titled “It’s OK To Sit On My Quilt,” based on Mary Ellen Hopkins innovative cutting and sewing techniques. I started out doing mostly hand quilting. Then longarm quilting caught my attention. After seeing what could be done on these machines it became a goal to learn how to do it. This became a reality in January of 1996 when a friend offered to let me quilt for customers on her Gammill machine. She moved away with her machine, but I worked out a similar arrangement with another friend and continued to build my skills. In 2000 I bought that machine, a Nolting 24, and set it up in my current studio.

In 1997 I attended a Longarm Quilters Showcase at Duluth, Minnesota. There were some beautiful heirloom quilts that inspired me to work hard to push my skills to that level. Since then, my quilting has received a number of honors in the local area including Reserve Champion at the local county fair, Best Machine Quilted Quilt and Best Quilted Item at the Silverton, Colorado quilt show and a number of People‘s Choice awards. I finally feel ready to offer my skills over the internet to people looking for this level of quilting.

I‘m a charter member of the LaPlata Quilters Guild. I served on the Board of Directors for 16 years and held several positions including President. Members of the local guild continue to give me inspiration and encouragement. Show and Tell is still one of my favorite things in life!
